Newton Thornburg really knows how to write a novel, a fact he proved with 1976’s CUTTER AND BONE, and again in VALHALLA, possibly the most (undeservedly) obscure of all his books

Z FOR ZACHARIAH

I know many of you read this ostensible young adult novel in your teens. I missed out on that experience, but having finally gotten around to doing so I can fully understand why Z FOR ZACHARIAH is so iconic

UNDER THE DOME

I don’t feel UNDER THE DOME is the triumphant return to form for Stephen King that many are dubbing it, but it is lively and readable
