Reviews & Commentary by Adam Groves
X,Y
This digitally lensed mind roaster is among the darkest depictions of male-female dynamics you’ll ever experience
X: THE MAN WITH THE X-RAY EYES
Here’s a film that should be remade, an early sixties Roger Corman potboiler with an unusually imaginative script that utilizes ominous Lovecraftian overtones
A QUIET PLACE IN THE COUNTRY
Baffling Euro-nuttiness from the late sixties. This film probably won’t appeal to most viewers, but for those of you who (like me) enjoy psychedelic weirdness it’s a must
THE QUIET FAMILY
Pitch-dark comedy horror from South Korea about a family who can’t seem to keep from killing the guests of their rural lodge
QUEENS OF EVIL
An Italian counterculture howler that will appeal to devotees of surreal baloney. It’s a colorful and flamboyant film to be sure, and even fairly enjoyable in its own loopy manner
