Reviews & Commentary by Adam Groves
APARTMENT ZERO
I wasn’t terribly impressed with this Buenos Aires-set psychological thriller when it first played back in 1990, and it hasn’t improved a whole lot in the succeeding years
ANTIVIRAL
In which debuting writer-director Brandon Cronenberg boldly mines the biological horror trope invented by his father David
ANTICHRIST
Head bashing, perverted sex, stabbing, strangulation, testicle smashing, entrail eating, ankle skewering and vaginal mutilation are among the delicacies of this lacerating film, one of the most provocative and unrelenting cinematic offerings of recent years
ANGUISH
A fairly clever movie theater set splatter film, ANGUISH has some clever touches but suffers from the fact that the film-within-the-film is really lame
ANGST
An Austrian serial killer drama, similar in vain to classics like M and HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER. Many respected critics have dubbed it a masterpiece. Not me!
